The Referendum

On April 6th, voters will consider a proposal to sustain and grow library services for our community.

Sometimes, You Just Need Someone to Ask.

“Normally I’d ask my daughter, but she doesn’t live in town anymore.”

A patron recently shared this with a staff member while getting help with her phone. Years of photos and videos had filled her Google storage, leaving her unable to receive emails. A staff member patiently helped her learn to manage her files independently.

A week later, she returned with her phone in hand, eager to show us what she had accomplished. She had freed up 5 gigabytes of storage space and rediscovered family memories she wanted to print and preserve.

We have interactions like this all the time. For us, there’s something especially rewarding about seeing someone walk out our doors knowing they can do something they couldn’t before. We’ve helped a small business owner learn to manage his Facebook Page, and we’ve walked alongside a patron navigating complicated online paperwork for retirement housing.

Sometimes it takes ten minutes, and sometimes it takes several visits. What matters is that people have somewhere to go where they can ask questions, take their time, and find help from someone who believes in their ability to figure it out.
