River Valley Board of Trustees
The RVDL Board of Trustees exercises control over library policies and procedures. They meet monthly to discuss library operations, approve expenditures, and plan for the library’s future. The board also plays a key role in hiring and evaluating the library director, who manages day-to-day operations. Library boards help maintain transparency, ensure responsible use of public funds, and support the library’s mission to provide access to information, resources, and programs for the community.

Petition for Candidacy: River Valley District Library Board of Trustees
The River Valley District Library Board of Trustees meets monthly to help govern and guide the library. The Board is responsible for decisions related to library policies, finances, resources, services, and long-term planning.
Board members serve four-year terms and attend monthly Board meetings. The Board is composed of community members who help provide oversight and guidance for the library.
Library users, community members, and individuals interested in participating in the governance of their public library are welcome to learn more about the candidacy process.
If you’re interested in running, stop by the library to learn more about the election process and pick up a candidacy packet from the Library Director or Assistant Director.

Library Board Meeting Dates
Meetings of the River Valley District Library are typically held on the fourth Wednesday of each month beginning at 5:30 pm in the Community Room on the second floor of the library (214 S. Main Street, Port Byron, IL 61275).
Special Meetings
Special meetings may be held. Special meeting agendas will be posted at the library and on the library’s website no less than 48 hours before the meeting.
