    For all ages. Read one book during the month of October to earn a new badge for your collection on READsquared! Also for our October Challenge, we are asking you to read a spooky book in celebration of the Halloween holiday.   • October STEAM Challenge

    Through the month of October 2020

    For children in K-5th, older kids and adults are welcome to join in as well. Introducing the new STEAM Challenge from River Valley District Library. Each month, there will be a new challenge issued with supplies provided by the Library. For October, you are challenged to design your own mask. Call 309-523-3440 to request your STEAM Challenge Kit today! Don't forget to upload pictures or videos of your finished project to Facebook or Instagram and tag @RiverValleyLibrary. We look forward to seeing your creations!
  • Drive-Thru Halloween Parade

    Friday, Oct. 30: 5-7pm

    For all ages. Join our Drive-Thru Halloween Parade to celebrate the spooky season! Costumes are encouraged, but not required. We ask that families stay with their vehicles for safety. Register online at www.rivervalleylibrary.org on the Calendar of Events page or by calling (309) 523-3440.
  • Library General Election Polling Office: Closed for Regular Business

    Tuesday, Nov. 3: 6am-7pm

    The library will be an election polling office for the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd starting at 6am through 7pm. Voting will take place in the DOWNSTAIRS area of the library, due to social distancing regulations. Masks are strongly encouraged. The library will not be open for regular business this day, only for voting. We will reopen for our normal hours on Wednesday, Nov. 4th at 9am.

    Great, free digital comics & graphic novels with your library card!

    Are you a comic fan!? We now offer the digital Comics Plus Database, Comics Plus has over 20,000 different comics available for all ages. It has everything from Disney princesses to superheroes, horror to non- fiction, full graphic novels to illustrated biographies and much more! Click here and look up River Valley District Library, your log in information is your library card number. NOTE: This app is best used with a PC or tablet.

    We've added a new, free resource for parents & teachers!

    Scholastic Teachables is an online database of tens of thousands of searchable and printable educational materials. Teacher-authors create and vet thousands of high-quality, ready-to-use resources so that teachers & parents do not have to spend countless hours searching for reliable content to support their instruction. These are a great resource for those who are homeschooling this school year. There are worksheets available for Pre-K up to Grade 8.     The top square takes you to our fabulous fun filled Facebook page! Here you will be delighted with entertainment and education opportunities.
    The second square takes you to the library’s Twitter page. Your time spent on Twitter will treat you with activities and stories.
    The third square is a link to our YouTube channel! New videos are in the works but stay awhile and take a trip down memory lane by watching some of our favorite people being educated in playful ways!
    The fourth square is Instagram, our online photo-sharing application. Here is where you can let your creativity shine! Share photos of your isolation projects and your thoughts in the comments sections. This growing platform will keep us connected! Show us your smile!

Wireless internet access covers the entire building, including the parking lot! Computers are available for public use in the adult, young adult, children and meeting room areas.
