River Valley District Library Card Policies:
A library card is available free of charge to all patrons who pay property
taxes to River Valley Library District.
To find out which library district you pay taxes to please see your voter’s
registration card or your tax bill, or call the Rock Island County Clerk’s
office. If you do not pay taxes to our district, but have a card from any
other participating RiverShare Libraries you may use it at our library. If you
do not pay taxes to a participating RiverShare library you may purchase a
card from us for one year.
Children can be any age to obtain their own library card with parental
consent and a parent’s signature. Give your child the gift of reading- sign
them up for a library card today!
River Valley Library is part of Prairie Area Library System (PALS), and
patrons can use their cards at any RiverShare library. Patrons may also
inter-library loan items from other RiverShare libraries, both at our library
and at home using RiverShare's online catalog, but they must abide by
the loaning library's checkout and renewal policies.
Each patron is responsible for all items checked out on their card, and for
any fines or charges accrued on their card. If an item is lost or damaged,
the patron must pay our replacement cost and any re-processing fees.
The patron may not attempt to replace the item on their own, as we
must close reprocess it under a new barcode.
Lost or Stolen Cards: If your card is lost or stolen, please contact us
immediately to have it replaced in order to protect your account.
Change of Information: If your name, address, phone number or other
information changes, please contact us as soon as possible so that we
can update your account in order to prevent disruption of your privileges.
Applying for a card: To receive your card, you must fill out an application
form and have some form of address verification- either a voter's
registration card, tax form or piece of mail with your current address.
